StockX, better known as "The Stock Market for Sneakers," has tapped the likes of sneaker customizers El Cappy and JBF Customs on collaborative 1 of 1 pair of the Nike Lebron Air Zoom Generation as a gift Dan Gilbert, Co-Founder of StockX and Owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The 1 of 1 pair bridges Gilbert's upbringing in Detroit with his successes in Cleveland. Each pair takes on a distinctive aesthetic with the right shoe representing the "The Motor City" and left shoe a sure nod the "The Land."
It was only right for the Detroit-native El Cappy to take on the Detroit silhouette which features a google map-like illustration of Downtown Detroit. Done up with the traditional Google Maps colorway, grey and white takes up most of the upper's front with yellow and orange stripes as well as green to completely execute the look. The heel however takes on a story of its own, boldly sporting logos from Gilbert's business ventures including Quicken, Fathead, Bedrock and StockX – all of which now reside in Downtown Detroit. El Cappy also coins his own catch phrase "Like Stocks and Bonds We Trade Jordans and LeBrons," which can be seen on the heel.
The left silhouette by JBF Customs, who is a Cleveland native, pays tribute to Gilbert's basketball ties utilizing authentic NBA basketballs and Cleveland Cavaliers jerseys. Highlights include Official Game Ball accents that land on the swoosh branding, toe cap, tongue and collar. JBF's silhouette is topped off with gold laces that play well the gold piping accents.
